I don't about you
But,
I personally love waking up to the sound of birds singing their soothing tunes every morning.
In fact, I wouldn’t describe mornings without mentioning the chirping of birds.
However, when they are too many, they become a nuisance; either by making too much noise, dirtying everywhere with their poop or even your car every time you park under a tree.
These and other reasons can compel you to get rid of too many birds from your compound.
1. Get rid of any water or food sources
One of the reason there are birds in your backyard is because it’s a feeding source. Normally, birds will stay in a place over a long period of time if that place guarantees a constant supply of food. Avoid dumping any food or leftovers in your backyard.
Clear all bushes and grasses in your backyard since some of them produce seeds and berries that the birds feed on.
2. Install irritating noises, scents, and lights
Even after getting rid of all food sources and the birds still don’t leave your backyard, you will be required to take tougher measures. Birds are usually repelled and irritated by loud and sudden noises, flashing lights and various scents.
Air horns can be quite useful for this purpose. You will be required to do this over a period of time after which the birds will leave. In extreme instances, fire crackers make come in handy instead. Bright flashing lights can also be used especially at night. This irritates the birds and they should leave after a short period of time. Applying bird repellant scented liquids around your backyard can also keep them away. These liquids can be purchased online.
3. Erect traps and nets around your backyard
Another effective way is to put up nets and traps around your backyard. Birds will usually not live in a place which poses danger to them. Once you catch one of the birds, you can release it, trust me it will most likely not hang around your backyard again. Most of these traps and nests can be purchased online and they come with guidance on how to erect them to work effectively.
4. Put up decoys and scarecrows around your backyard
This is the other effective way of getting rid of the birds around your backyard. Erect decoys and scarecrows mostly the shape of larger birds like falcons or eagles. Make sure they can easily be moved e.g. by the wind. This will keep off any smaller birds.
In some instances, you can also higher a falconer to lend you a real falcon for just $55 an hour. The presence of that falcon for two days will definitely get rid of all the birds in your backyard.
5. Keep cats and dogs in your backyard
The other way of getting rid of birds; mainly the smaller ones is by letting your dogs and cats hang around your backyard frequently. Normally, birds will not hang around an unsafe area.
Avoid feeding your dogs and cats in your backyard, as this can attract more birds instead of getting rid of them.
